The mug is beautiful in its design but doesn’t appear to be anything special beyond that... until it’s in your hand. I consider myself somewhat a mug snob because I have been a collector and editor of said collection for years now.
Things that make this mug stand out: It fits comfortably in the hand. This would vary depending on your hand size but I have pretty average sized hands for an average sized woman’s body. I find a lot of mugs to be too large to hold easily with one hand. This one flutes to a comfortable size where the hand holds. The handle is also brilliant in that its lower on the mug to slip your middle and ring finger into. Pointer and pinky fingers rest above and below. I like this because every movement of the mug is balanced from picking it up to tilting it to the lips. The weight is also notable. Much lighter than you may initially guess but weighted enough to sit sturdy on a surface while stirring and mixing things into the mug.
I’ve washed the mug 5 times and have found no imperfection in the outer design that could trap rogue food and the fluted design makes cleaning the inside easy.
I usually gravitate towards bigger mugs but they're not nearly as comfortable to use. I cannot even say that that could be a negative as it would hinder other aspects of the experience.
The mug is beautiful. Cleans easily. Appears to be built and designs flawlessly. And at a fair price!
